- CEPT Progress
Dear
Member,
The European Regulatory
Office (ERO) has informed us that the official Thai application for CEPT TR6101
and 6102 participation was received by their office last week. The ERO will now
discuss the application with a team of experts, and then send their
recommendation to the CEPT member administrations through a committee called
ECC. The administrations have four weeks to respond to the ERO via ECC. ERO will
then consider the results of this consultation and if favourable will then make
a recommendation to a working group called WGRA (Working Group Regulatory
Affairs). They must submit the recommendation 2 weeks before the scheduled WGRA
meeting. If the WGRA meeting approves, ERO will then formally write to the
Thailand administration to advise them of the result. This will finish the
process as far as CEPT is concerned.
So, the critical points
are the dates of WGRA meetings, which are 27-30th September 2004, and 5th
February 2005. It seems there will not be enough time to make the
September meeting, so the 5 February 2005 meeting is most likely. On the
Thai side it is likely that Cabinet approval will be needed for this agreement,
similar to a Reciprocal Agreement.
